Job Description

About Etched

Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep chain-of-thought reasoning.

Supply Chain Manager

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations Supply Chain Manager to manage and optimize the supply chain processes for silicon wafers, CoWoS, HBM and server components. This role is critical in identifying capacity constraints, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency of procurement for Etched solution, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet production and delivery goals.

Representative Projects:

  • Production Planning & Scheduling
    • Develop and maintain production schedules for silicon wafers and server systems components from initial prototype to final production delivery
    • Coordinate with foundries, OSATs (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test providers), contract manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure production timelines are met
    • Track and forecast capacity planning across all silicon manufacturing and server assembly stages, including wafer fabrication, component manufacturing, assembly and testing
  • Supply Chain Coordination
    • Work closely with ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers) to manage the procurement of server system-level components, ensuring alignment with production timelines and specifications
    • Oversee the supply chain for custom parts, including ASIC, HBM, water blocks, PCBs for Sohu Modules, and other bespoke components
    • Coordinate the procurement and availability of non-custom parts (e.g., connectors, heat sinks, and standard server components) with ODM needed for server production
    • Monitor supplier capacity, delivery performance, lead times, and inventory levels to avoid production bottlenecks or delays
    • Build up component distribution, server logistics flow to ensure smooth supply delivery from vendors to customers
  • Production Monitoring & Issue Resolution
    • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) inventory and production metrics to ensure adherence to plans and quality standards for silicon and system-level components
    • Identify and address potential delays or constraints in silicon and server production flow, escalating issues as needed
    • Manage yield tracking and recovery plans in partnership with engineering teams and suppliers for silicon, custom server-level components and assemblies
  • Forecasting & Reporting
    • Develop demand forecasts for silicon and server system components based on demand outlook, yield estimation and market dynamics
    • Send forecasts to supply chain partners regularly and ensure the right capacity setup in place
    • Generate detailed reports and dashboards for stakeholders to track production progress, capacity utilization, and delivery performance
  • Process Improvement
    • Analyze existing production processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
    • Implement best practices for capacity planning, lead-time reduction, and cost management into production lifecycles, and later migrate to ERP work flow
    • Partner with engineering and operations teams to refine production workflows and enhance yield

You maybe a good fit if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, production planning, or operations within the semiconductor and/or server manufacturing industry.
  • Up to 50% of traveling for supplier onsite coordination, and production monitoring
  • Strong understanding of: Silicon manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, dicing, packaging, and testing; Server-level component procurement and integration, including working with ODMs.
  • Experience managing custom component supply chains, including water blocks, PCBs, and bespoke mechanical parts.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with yield management, cycle time optimization, and inventory control strategies.
  • Experience working with foundry partners and OSAT providers.
  • Knowledge of server system design and the integration of silicon into larger platforms.
  • Familiarity with thermal management components, such as heat exchangers and water-cooling systems.
  • Exposure to silicon-related production metrics, including CPM, UPH, and OEE.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.

How we’re different:

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in Cupertino, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.

Benefits:

  • Full medical, dental, and vision packages, with 100% of premium covered, 90% for dependents
  • Housing subsidy of $2,000/month for those living within walking distance of the office
  • Daily lunch and dinner in our office
  • Relocation support for those moving to Cupertino
