POSITION SUMMARY: The accountant will be responsible for assisting with overseeing and managing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and general ledger functions. This position manages the daily supervision of the Accounts Payable Specialist. This role will collaborate with the fiscal team to ensure accurate and timely financial data, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effective management of financial processes.
What You Will Do
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Supervise Accounts Payable processes
- Oversee fixed assets and construction in progress
- Monitor lease software
- Process cash receipts
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely transactions
- Prepare weekly check runs
- Post month-end closing journal entries
- Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls
- Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights
- Assist in reviewing spending plans and budgets
- Prepare internal and external reports
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions
- Coordinate year-end audit processes with external auditors
- Resolve discrepancies with customers or vendors
- Research and handle special projects as requested
- Protect organizational value by maintaining confidentiality

Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Five plus years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of financial statements and general ledger processes. Non-profit experience preferred. Preference given to applicants with experience in a government or non-profit agency. Supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Position requires employees to work with computers most of the day. Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and travel on an occasional basis. Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, stand and sit for extended periods of time.
