Job Overview

We are actively searching for a passionate Art Instructor specializing in Digital Arts to become a key member of our team. This remote opportunity presents a distinct chance to work with adult artists who experience a range of developmental, learning, behavioral, emotional, and intellectual challenges. As an Art Instructor, your role will be to inspire and nurture these individuals’ artistic abilities, facilitating their professional development and encouraging their integration into the local art community across various artistic mediums, including drawing, animation, video art, digital art, and 2D design, all tailored to individual artistic aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and oversee personalized artistic goals in alignment with each artist’s Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Safeguard the well-being of artists during Art Center operations and community excursions, providing support during breaks, meals, and transitions.
  • Collaborate with artists to maintain monthly progress documentation and accurate attendance records.
  • Engage with artists, supervisors, and case managers regularly via phone, text, Zoom, and email to ensure consistent support, especially in remote settings.
  • Deliver art instruction across various mediums, guiding artists in developing their unique artistic identity while ensuring proper use of materials and tools.
  • Organize and maintain art supplies, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition and available.
  • Contribute to the promotion of the Art Center’s mission, supporting art events and online exhibitions as necessary.
  • Assist in the organization and staffing of art exhibitions, helping artists present their work effectively, which may involve matting, framing, and installation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and medical procedures, providing First Aid/CPR when needed and assisting with personal care as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficient knowledge in at least one specialty area of art and digital art techniques.
  • Strong ability to teach, mentor, and motivate artists in their creative practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Competency in using technology for communication, including emails and video conferencing platforms such as Zoom.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for community outings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated skills in 2D and digital art techniques.
  • First Aid/CPR and NCI certification are required or must be obtained upon hiring.
  • A portfolio showcasing completed work is necessary for application.
  • Successful candidates must pass a DOJ background investigation and provide evidence of a negative TB test.
