Manual Machinist, Hobbs

Summary: A successful CNC/Manual Machinist in the Hobbs department will have a general understanding of and the ability to control strike patterns. They will also coordinate efforts to safely and efficiently produce products that meets all quality parameters. This is an hourly non-exempt position reporting to the Production Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic understanding of equipment and processes in area of responsibility. Ability to read precision measuring equipment. Basic blueprint reading skills Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines. Must be able to apply knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, and assembly techniques. Review and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements. Capable of understanding and following routing information. Basic set-up capabilities. Basic understanding of feeds and speeds. Proven understanding of gearing terminology Minimum of 5 years of proven experience. Critical Skills: Trustworthiness- We earn trust through honesty, integrity, and reliability. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a high school degree and or related experience commensurate with position responsibilities. Advanced level of job operating efficiency Ability to operate multiple machines. Basic understanding and run parameters of Gleason gear cutter Ability to communicate with and work closely with others including scheduling and product control. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
