We are currently seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead the development of KACL’s communications strategy. The strategy will be developed as a comprehensive and flexible approach to achieving KACL’s strategic objectives and providing an enhanced employee experience capable of attracting, retaining and invigorating KACL’s workforce by delivering impactful and meaningful results for people served and the community.

Working collaboratively with the CEO and senior leadership team, the coordinator plays a key role in driving the organization’s commitment to creating, through a comprehensive communications approach, an inclusive, empowering, and supportive environment for the organization, and in championing a culture grounded in the fundamentals of safety, teamwork, courtesy, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Evaluate current communications, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to address communication gaps and goals.
  • Research and document organizational operational experiences to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Co-develop content for KACL social media platforms for the purpose of brand recognition and an informed public.
  • Participate with the senior leadership team to develop internal and external communication strategies. Engage with management team to ensure clear alignment with KACL activities and core value messages.
  • Participate as a member of KACL communications team and lead Crisis Ready Communication activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A university degree in Social Services, English, Public Relations, Media, or Communications Strategy.
  • Superior communication skills, adept at understanding diverse audience needs and tailoring messaging accordingly for maximum clarity and impact.
  • Demonstrated experience in the field of communication, including research and analysis.
  • A deep understanding and personal commitment to KACL’s core values, with the ability to integrate these into daily work practices.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to manage organization communication with care, including the ability to empathize with and positively influence the emotions of others.
  • Proficiency leveraging technology and multimodal digital mediums, with a strong command of Microsoft 365 applications.

Position Type: Full-time, in-person

Location: Kenora, Ontario

Salary: $70,949 per year
