Description
The Principal Fonction:
As Manager of Urban Planning, you will report to the Director of Urban Development.
Salary : starting salary at $ 87,348,75
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for following progress of all Permits, projects & files within the Urban Planning Department.
- Prepares reports for council
- Manages unionized employees
- Ensure employees are trained in all aspects of their job
- Ensures all projects completed are in conformity with the City By-laws
- Track and propose changes to By-laws to meet developing municipal needs
- Ensures that resident complaints related to the Urban Planning department are properly dealt with and followed up
- Responsible for communication with residents, organizations, and internal City departments regarding Urban Planning issues
- Develops and improves customer service on an ongoing basis for residents and internal customers and keeps residents informed on current files
- Creates, develops and enhances policies and procedures related to the Urban Planning Department
- Responsible for the Department’s budget tracking
- Ensures correct content for monthly reports and statistical reporting
- Manages and oversees projects
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning and be a member of the Order of Urbanists of Quebec.
- The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of management experience or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, objectives, strategies and implications of Urban, and Environmental Planning.
- The candidate must have strong IT skills, keen business sense, strong research skills, ability to solve complex problems, and the ability to be a strong team player.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in both French and English are a must.
