Job Responsibilities:
Working in a team environment, this position is responsible for procurement activity in an assigned group of commodities. Additional duties include:
- Prepare and Issues formal quotations, proposals and tenders, including coordinating or assisting in development of specifications, cost analyses and administration of assigned commodities;
- Processes assigned Town electronic requisitions, checking for proper control practices, pricing and approval
- Communicates in person, by telephone and in writing with staff in all of the Town’s Departments, Boards and Commissions and with the Region, other municipalities, business executives, consultants;
- Provides procurement support in a diverse and assigned group of commodities;
- Expedites outstanding orders;
- Manages an assigned number of annual contracts and is responsible for contract renewal negotiations and obtaining approvals
- Works in cooperation with the Sr. Procurement Coordinators and Intermediate Buyers as a buying team and assist where requested.
- Management of the purchasing inbox
- Point person for CIS purchasing related inquiries and training
- Back up to the Purchasing and Insurance Clerk including setting up bid documents, front counter coverage and assisting with risk management tasks as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Community College Diploma in business or related field, with 1 to 3 years related purchasing experience.
- Completion of or working towards completion of PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) Level I and CIM Certification.
- Enrolment in OPBA (Ontario Public Buyers Association) would be an asset.
- Applicants must have the ability to respect confidentiality, display initiative, discretion, good judgment and deal effectively with the public.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Proficient word processing and spreadsheet skills are required. Procurement skills and experience are required.
- Applicants should be fully conversant with computerized systems used in automated purchasing and inventory control.
