POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Assistant assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The HR assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas of employment and retention.

DUTIES:

  • Coordinates the recruiting and onboarding process which includes posting all open positions, schedule interviews and send out reference checks as requested.
  • Processes background checks and drug screens.
  • Tracks and maintains database on reviews, disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans.
  • Completes employment verifications.
  • Maintains employee files and HR filing system which includes tracking and verifying employee data.
  • Provide administrative support for special projects.
  • Perform other administrative duties such as distributing mail, filing, typing, and scheduling meetings, answering phones and emails.
  • Managing the on boarding process for new hire, and collecting and processing new hire paperwork ensuring the necessary paper work is received.
  • Assists with providing unemployment claim information for outside agencies, as needed.
  • Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office.
  • Assists with the implementation of services, policies and programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be organized and detailed oriented including a well-organized system for handling work load
  • Proficient in the use of Human Resources Information System, spreadsheets and related office products and have the ability to learn different programs.
  • Demonstrated ability in prioritizing and handle multiple projects
  • Demonstrated positive employee interactions, and communications both oral and written.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Human Resources experience is preferred.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills (initiative, self-starter, influential and drive).
  • Must have strong analytical/ problem solving skills and have the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Comfortable conducting presentations to groups of all sizes.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

SALARY:

Grade 5: pay range $18.21 – $25.49 per hour
