Job Summary:
The team responsible for building world-class news experiences for ABC News is seeking a Software Engineer. This is a great opportunity to work on a leading news product at ABC News on its mission to inform and inspire. Responsibilities:
- Develop core site functionality using server-side templating and JavaScript
- Resolve bugs and clear roadblocks as they occur
- Implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability
- Support team members by reviewing code and pull requests
- Work with engineering peers, product, and project management to refine specs and timelines
- Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions
- Help onboard new engineers as needed
- Collaborate with story tellers and designers across our brands
Qualifications:
- Proven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, React.JS, and server-side templating
- Experience with task automation (WebPack, Grunt, Gulp) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass)
- Demonstrated ability to research solutions to complex problems
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Driven and self-motivated
- 3+ years relevant industry experience
Required Education:
- BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT & Burbank, CA is $114,900 to $154,100 per year and in New York and Seattle, WA is $120,300 to $161,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
