Job Title: Medical Records Clerk
Department: Customer Care
Reports To: Customer Care Manager
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM M-F
Job Purpose
As a Medical Records professional working in the Customer Care department of our diagnostic lab, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, archiving files, and managing customer care supplies to ensure smooth business operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Enter patient information into the laboratory information system
- Scan, file and maintain patient records
- Archive all documents and reports to offsite storage
- Assist with inventory of stained slides and archive to offsite storage facility
- Order supplies and maintain inventory levels for customer care
- Data entry and other administrative tasks
- Work cross-functionally with and the customer care team and other departments as appropriate
- Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines
- Contribute to a cohesive team environment
- Provide administrative QC audit support (electronic and paper copies)
- Support process improvement initiatives
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Consistent and punctual on-site attendance

Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and PHI best practices required
- Requires proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of querying and solid analytical skills with ability to compile data from many sources and define designs to use data
- Experience with electronic health record systems required
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems ideal
- Strong customer service orientation
- Prior experience in a laboratory or administrative setting preferred
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload, with excellent attention to detail
- Requires strong computer, organizational, and communication skills with abilities to work with a broad spectrum of people, and ability to prioritize workload
