The Strategy
The Value Opportunities Fund (“VOF”) is a >$2bn evergreen entity that was formed in 2007 as a step-out from Oaktree’s $n flagship closed-end opportunistic credit strategy, Global Opportunities (“Opps”). The Fund invests through both long and short positions in distressed, stressed and value-oriented investments. VOF invests alongside Opps in more liquid opportunities and overlays its own underwriting with a focus on obscure situations and companies with smaller capital structures. VOF’s dedicated six-person team constructs the portfolio through a “bottom-up” process and aims to maintain a relatively concentrated set of holdings.
Scope And Responsibilities
Oaktree is seeking a Vice President to work within the Value Opportunities group. The VP will participate in all transaction functions and portfolio management activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed financial modeling.
- Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Developing and maintaining business and industry due diligence.
- Recommending suitable trades and monitoring positions.
Experience Required
- 6+ years of combined experience with an investment bank and private equity or hedge fund; ideally ranked in top quartile.
- Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis, business valuation, accounting and finance.

- The successful candidate will have outstanding initiative and be a self-starter.
- The candidate must demonstrate non-linear thinking and have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks
- The candidate must be team-oriented and collaborative and must possess strong integrity and professionalism.
The base salary for this role will be $225,000-250,000 plus a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package
