Responsibilities of the Multimedia Specialist

The Multimedia Specialist uses digital media communications to support the educational and outreach mission of Northeastern Technical College (NETC) through the creation, editing and dissemination of various digital media including, but not limited to: websites, social media sites, blogs, video, photo, audio, and other online footprints. This position manages the college’s online reputation and ensures its digital presence aligns with the overall college marketing strategy. The position is located in the Marketing and Public Relations Department within the Division of Institutional Advancement and reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

  • Responsible for the college’s numerous digital communications platforms, which includes the design and maintenance of the college website, social media, photos, videos, and graphics support. This presence includes social media platforms/software, including but not limited to: Facebook & Facebook Live, X, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google+.
  • Develops effective, engaging, and persuasive visual assets and content that promotes the NETC brand. Creates compelling graphics to accompany online content in Adobe Creative Suite or similar software. In addition to digital outlets, these assets may be utilized for print media through ads, newsletters, campus branding, recruitment brochures, Constant Contact, etc. Maintains information on digital signage at all campuses through Watchfire and Hypersign software for marquees and internal displays.
  • Creates targeted social media and digital advertising campaigns to support recruitment goals, using analytics to measure results and return on investment. Creates landing pages and QR codes for advertising campaigns with a clear message and call to action.
  • Serves as photographer/videographer for events, advertising, web and visual needs to support all college marketing efforts. Utilizes digital photo and video software; setups and conducts video shoots; manages camera, sound and lighting in both studio and field situations; post production work includes reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, adjusting audio and color, and completing final editing; creates computer graphics and special effects.
  • Works with other members of the Marketing Department to assist in the college’s brand identity and ensure consistency across all communication channels. This includes developing brand messaging, visual assets, and brand guidelines to maintain a cohesive and recognizable brand image that supports the NETC mission. Assists in photography and videography to support all college marketing communications. Assists with coverage of community/outreach/students/faculty/staff events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in media arts, photojournalism, information services, or education and entry-level work experience in a related field; or a high school diploma and journey-level work experience in a related field. Must have a valid driver’s license.

NETC Preferred Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in media arts, photojournalism, information services, or education and three (3) years entry-level work experience in a related field; or an associate’s degree in media arts, photojournalism, information services, or education and five years entry-level work experience in related field; or a high school diploma and seven (7) years journey-level work experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess excellent computer skills and strong recent experience and comfort with website content management tools and digital media/communications role and programs. Must have an understanding of the digital landscape and be a social media expert. Existing experience with software/applications, such as: HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Constant Contact and all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, WordPress).

Employee will be housed in the Marketing Department within the Institutional Advancement Division and supervised by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Employee will be expected to work closely with other Marketing Department staff.

Additional Comments

Some overnight travel may be required to attend professional conferences and peer group meetings.

NETC is a qualified employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time at NETC. To qualify for PSLF, you must:

  • be employed by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization (federal service includes U.S. military service)
  • work full-time for that agency or organization
  • have Direct Loans (or consolidate other federal student loans into a Direct Loan)
  • repay your loans under an income-driven repayment plan*
  • make 120 qualifying payments
