Job Summary:

The category buyer role is responsible for supporting revenue volume through reorders and ensuring items are stocked at the right amount, at the right time, and for the correct sales channel. With a focus on sales through, current on hand, and lead times, the Category Buyer focuses on supporting company goals around turns on inventory, and financial goals for inventory on hand at any given time. The ideal candidate is motivated, results-oriented, and committed to the success of reorder SKUs driven by analysis of the stock-to-sales ratio, seasonal trends, and onsite merchandising.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an ordering schedule focused on normal demand buys, risk mitigation buys, and strategic project purchases
  • Analyze, anticipate and monitor inventory levels across your category to make the ideal ordering decisions, eliminating out of stock occurrences, reducing expedite shipments from suppliers and maintaining a financial responsible inventory level onsite
  • Use the demand plan, forecast and company inventory levels to determine products ideal reorder point
  • Work with the operations, customer experience, sourcing and the product development team to reduce quality defects and incidents
  • Work directly with sourcing and product development to find secondary and tertiary suppliers in an effort to mitigate risks in the supply chain
  • Work with sourcing and production planner to ensure production lead times are on track
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Merchandising Management or Operations management
  • 2+ years of buying experience
  • Apics Certifications are a plus (Planning and Inventory Management ~CPMI, and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional ~ CSCP)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Proven strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective inventory management strategies
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Amazon Seller Central, retail supply chain management, and direct-to-consumer logistics is a plus
  • Experience in Netsuite a plus
  • Experience in Apparel industry a plus
  • Experience in Merchandising a plus
