The Role

86 Repairs is a technology company transforming a huge, overlooked problem in restaurants: getting things fixed. While other parts of the industry have evolved thanks to tech (think: online ordering, point-of-sale), repairs and maintenance (R&M) has kept the status quo… until we came along.

We’re looking for a full stack software engineer with 1-3 years of experience to help us bring new products to market, evolve our business intelligence (BI) reporting, and implement a new QA program across our platform. You’ll be working directly with our Head of Product, our engineering team, and your colleagues across other departments to solve problems, build software solutions, and help us navigate our incredibly powerful datasets using our BI stack and user-facing data discovery tools. You’ll gain valuable experience in all of these areas alongside an exceptional senior team, with growth opportunities as the company continues to grow.

You’ll be working with a modern tech stack:

  • Backend: Node.js with TypeScript, PostgreSQL database, deployed on AWS
  • Frontend: Vue.js
  • Mobile: React Native

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of software engineering and QA experience
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Experience with BigQuery, Looker, and/or other BI tools will be very helpful
  • Experience writing test suites and leveraging QA tools
  • Experience as a team member on project or support teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience working with non-technical colleagues (internal and external end users)
  • Ability to take end user feedback and see it through to a completely developed work
  • Experience with Agile practices in a cross-functional environment is ideal
  • Passion for pragmatic software design

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $120,000+, based on relevant experience for the role. Compensation is tied to Chicago market data, regardless of where you live.

The Company

86 launched an R&M management platform built for the restaurant industry in 2019. Our tech-enabled solution includes on-demand repair management and preventative maintenance. With 86 Repairs, restaurants can access data-driven insights and 24/7 support to control their facilities, reduce their R&M costs, and spend less of their team’s time on equipment repairs.
