RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
The candidate under nominal direction, will perform a variety of wet laboratory research techniques and clerical tasks. The candidate will perform tasks related to ongoing research projects (SUPRA, CARE SSc, CD34) independently, within broad guidelines and subject to periodic review by the supervisor. For this the candidate requires expertise in a wet lab handling/processing human specimens (e.g. blood, biopsies). The candidate will collaborate to ongoing tasks related to the maintenance of the laboratory and will interact with students facilitating their projects.
General Duties
- Perform laboratory experiments utilizing standard techniques and equipment,
- Collect project data,
- Perform routine logging and testing of samples,
- Processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms,
- Assist in the design of laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols,
- Instruct other staff and students in basic laboratory techniques,
- Performs related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies.

Education: Master’s Degree
- Candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree will be considered for a Junior Assistant title.
Work Experience: >2 years

- Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
- Being enthusiastic, dedicated and pro-active.

Status : Temporary Occasional
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education & work experience.
Work Shift: Variable Schedule
