Purpose of the Role:

  • The primary purpose of this role requires management of financial accounting process for M&P team and related activities like Budget Management, Financial Accounting, Decision Support and MIS reporting.
  • This is a people leadership role, and will require strong focus on generating efficiencies, accelerating accounting processes and ensuring overall governance.
  • The incumbent will be required to collaborate with various stakeholders across Business LFOs/IOs, Marketing and GSM teams.

Academic Background:

The incumbent should be a qualified accountant (CA, CMA, ACCA) or MBA Finance with at least 5+ years of post-qualification experience or 6 to 10 years of post-qualification experience with B Com/ M Com / CA Intermediate.

Functional:

  • People leadership role with direct supervision of 2-3 colleagues.
  • Accounting and Reporting for M&P expense and budget management along with year-end support to various Marketing & Finance teams. Total AXP M&P budget of $5.5Bn.
  • Ensure compliance with internal service level agreements (SLA), SOX and Operational Controls, internal guidelines, accounting policies/ protocols and support internal and external audits.
  • The incumbent will be required to have strong accounting & reconciliation knowledge, policy awareness & control mindset.
  • Assist in periodic review and refresh for PRSA, Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and business Impact Analysis (BIA) which requires liaising with Risk Management Teams.
  • Strong communication, relationship management & collaboration skills while closely working with various stakeholders across Controllership, Business Finance, Audit and Control groups, etc.
  • High proficiency in MS-Office applications, Oracle Applications, Essbase and TM1, etc.

Additional:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve queries with the ability to deal with large set of data, perform trend & variance analysis and creating meaningful insights.
  • Self-starter with excellent verbal & written communication, presentation skills.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvements.
  • Quick learner, an eye for detail and ability to work during ambiguity.

Technical:

  • Good understanding of Card Economics, US GAAP (Revenue Recognition, Marketing & Business Development) and basic techno finance/automation skill/knowhow will be an added advantage.
