POSITION TITLE: KitchenPorter (509)

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager – Harmon Ave.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing general day to day cleaning in the kitchen facility. The Porter is responsible for using proper cleaning products to clean all kitchen areas. Follows cleaning schedules to assure clean and sanitary work environment. The Porter is responsible for removing and disposing of trash in assigned work areas. The Porter is responsible for cleaning floors, walls, light fixtures, ventilation covers, exhaust hoods and filters, doors, food service equipment, carts, ovens, and other areas as assigned. The Porter will accept: 1.) special deliveries to agency to include any donations and store properly in facility 2.) assist with receiving daily/weekly/monthly orders of foodservice supplies. Position will have access to fork lifts to move and store deliveries and donations. Position is responsible inspecting the grounds for trash and snow removal. Position requires reporting to operations manager of any maintenance and/or equipment issues that are observed or reported, may be asked to contact vendors for equipment repair and maintenance. Work performed in this position will be of a professional and sometimes confidential nature. Work requires attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple functions at one time. This position also requires the ability to work under general supervision. This position will have frequent contact with agency personnel, clients and guests. A positive and cooperative image and attitude is crucial for this position. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Operations Manager- Packaging. This position requires a significant amount of independence, self-direction and self- discipline to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities.

Principle Responsibilities /Essential Functions

Responsible for performing general day to day cleaning in the kitchen facility.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning of floors, walls, light fixtures, ventilation covers, exhaust hoods and filters, doors, food service equipment, carts, ovens, and other areas as assigned.

Responsible for removing and disposing of all trash in assigned work areas.

Responsible for inspecting the grounds for trash and snow removal.

Responsible for maintaining and following cleaning schedules.

Preventative maintenance of food service equipment, basic mechanical repairs and general building maintenance (bulletin boards, wall patching, painting, etc.)

Perform and record all repairs and preventative maintenance for the Harmon Ave kitchen.

Responsible for following and promoting safe work environment using wet floor signs, proper chemical labels, proper chemical usage and storage.

Responsible for completing other departmental and agency duties as assigned. This includes participating in departmental training and meetings and agency committees as assigned.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a large institutional kitchen. Works scheduled hours per day between a.m. opening and p.m. closing, Monday through Friday with some weekends as assigned. Evening, weekend, and holiday work is required.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer one year of general cleaning experience in large food service facility. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s license. Serv Safe certification required.

Knowledge, Skills Ans Abilities

Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.

Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and according to directions.

Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Ability to maintain and follow cleaning schedules.

Ability to coordinate cleaning schedules around production and food assembly schedules.

Ability to work with independently with general supervision.

Ability to maintain and promote effective working relationships with LifeCare Alliance staff, guests and clients.

Ability to work in a team environment.
