We are currently seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Controller/CFO to enhance our team in Fort Myers, FL. In this pivotal leadership position, you will oversee all financial operations within the company, taking charge of accounting functions, financial controls, forecasts, reports, tax submissions, and other vital procedures. As the leader of the accounting department, your role will involve mentoring a skilled team and converting financial data into strategic insights, while ensuring exemplary service to both our internal and external stakeholders.

You will collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team to optimize financial performance and safeguard company resources. The ideal candidate will possess a robust financial background, a fervor for leadership, and the capability to cultivate a high-performance culture within the accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting team, fostering their success through effective training, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Create a motivating and supportive environment that encourages the team to produce high-quality outcomes.
  • Establish departmental goals, prioritize initiatives, and develop key performance indicators.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the department and across the organization.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations to ensure adherence to company standards and internal controls.
  • Streamline accounting processes to transform data into meaningful insights.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports, aligning with the organization’s closing schedule.
  • Assist with project audits, supplying necessary information to operations teams.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital, proactively managing the company’s financial resources.
  • Promote a service-oriented mindset within the accounting department to enhance support for employees and external partners.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with software integrations, migrations, and implementations.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with project forecasting and a systems-oriented approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Strong business acumen and expertise in technical accounting.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, cooperative relationships with team members and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general construction accounting.
  • CPA certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
