Job Summary
The Senior Sports Executive is developing and implementing all functional departments that drive the profile of the Hong Kong China Rugby and the important role that it plays in Hong Kong. The role is responsible for the effective daily operations of all organizations’ activities associated with members of staff and their continuous personal and professional development.
Specific Responsibilities
- In relation to day-to-day operations, establishing and maintaining effective management practices and management systems of the HKCR, with particular emphasis on staff empowerment and development.
- Establishing staff resource policies that provide both an efficient service for the HKCR members and appropriate career progression for staff.
- Ensure that succession plans are in place and that appropriate development programmes are designed and actioned, where suggestions should be discussed with the BOD.
- Ensure that the staff training needs are identified and that they receive timely and appropriate training to develop to achieve their full potential.
- Monitoring and achievement of the objectives in the Strategic Plan and associated Board policies.
- Ensuring the effective allocation of responsibility for each HKCR activity to the appropriate Heads of Department, (together with associated Directors); prioritising critical activities in line with the Strategic Plan.
- Promoting and maintaining the development of strong working relationships between the Directors and the individual members of staff concerned.
- Ensuring effective organisation, devolution, and delegation of responsibility for day-to-day operations with emphasis and focus on strategic planning involving professional staff.
- Ensuring effective coordination and the application of appropriate standards throughout the Union and ensure staff duties are discharged in accordance with HKCR policy.
- Is responsible with the Heads of Department (HD), to produce the Annual Budget, and is responsible for ensuring that the cost centres operate within their agreed budget constraints and for maximizing government funding.
- Is involved in setting appropriate policies and strategy of the HKCR in support of the Strategic Plan, together with the BOD, and then assisted by the Heads of the Departments plans the implementation and execution of such.
- Developing and nurturing good working relations and strong ties through an up-to-date contact base between the HKCR and its individual members and establishing an effective communication system with a view to ensuring they are adequately informed as to the organization’s activities and services.
- Ensuring effective engagement with government and sporting organisations in HK.
Your profile
- An accredited Associate Degree from a Hong Kong tertiary institution/a Higher Diploma from a polytechnic university or polytechnic in Hong Kong or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or equivalent.
- Proven leadership experience in Executive level, working within a high-paced environment with multiple pressures from the needs and expectations of diverse stakeholders.
- Experience of setting and delivering against long-term strategic plans, annual business plans and the oversight of budgets.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to be able to engage successfully with the key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and foster a collaborative work environment with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Leadership experience in a professional sports association, preferably where both high performance and community competition exist.
- Experience operating at the international representative level of sport.
- Professional rugby knowledge or experience.
