Jiffy Trip is a fast growing Convenience Store chain with 30 locations across Oklahoma and Arkansas, with more stores coming next year! Currently, we have a General Manager position open in one of our Enid, OK store locations. Come and grow with our company!

The General Manager is responsible for building a strong team of employees who have the main focus of exceeding customer expectations. The General Manager oversees and is accountable for the operation of a store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, human resources management, and managing operating costs.

The ideal candidate will have previous management experience in retail or a convenience store environment. They will have the passion to train, coach and engage team members and they are able to prioritize tasks and responsibilities to drive performance and accomplish store/company goals!

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

Experience: 3-5 years of related experience with progressive management experience preferred; Retail or convenience store background preferred

Skills: Computer skills, Financial Management, Customer focus, Performance Mgmt, Leadership, Strong Communication skills, ability to operate electronic cash register and other convenience store equipment

The General Manager has the following General Duties:

Emotional and Cognitive Functioning

  • Able to manage stress and pressure appropriately based on requirements of the job.

  • Uses effective communication skills with employees, customers and vendors.

People Skills

  • Applies Human Resources policies effectively. Recruits, hires and develops employees to ensure positive results. Reviews store staffing on a regular basis to ensure staying within budget.
  • Ensures completion of on time evaluations, online training and Onboarding for all employees.
  • Appropriately manages all employee performance issues; ensures documentation is completed.
  • Appropriately processes all applicants and employees through PeopleMatter, Applicant Tracking System. Maintains payroll hours and completes payroll period report in detail.
  • Develops and builds a team and instills pride in employees by preparing them to effectively perform their duties. Teaches employees how to run the register, prioritize task lists and set a good standard for appearance and conduct.

Management Skills

  • Demonstrates effective problem solving skills; uses sound judgment. Considers options and consequences/outcomes of decisions made.

Operations and Process Skills

  • Follows company safety policies and procedures. Monitors theft and reports any concerns to immediate District Manager. Ensures all employees working at the POS have a valid Alcohol License, when required. Performs weekly safety huddle with team members.
  • Completes accurate Tobacco and inventory count monthly. If inventory is short or long, begins immediate steps to identify and solve the problem.
  • Completes and sends required store books by 11 AM, Monday through Friday, and scans all required documents to home office each day or as required.
  • Provides friendly, quick service, effective merchandising, on time ordering and proper marketing specials to ensure increased sales.
  • Store is ready for business at all times: clean and organized (inside and outside), appropriate set up and displays and approved signage.
  • Bank deposits are made according to schedule.
  • Reviews price override and void items report weekly and follows up with Sales Associates on questionable transactions. Reviews video to confirm.
  • Ensures gas storage tanks are measured nightly, displays pricing appropriately, and changes prices promptly. Promptly receives invoice and enters in computer daily and maintains OCC gasoline tank file in accordance with company policy and follows policy on gasoline spills and OCC training.
  • Appropriately processes weekly orders in a timely manner and accepts price changes each Thursday. Prints new shelf tags and replaces old tags regularly, as needed.
  • Ensures proper vendor check-ins are being followed.
  • Reviews weekly objectives, employee issues, to-do-list, cleanliness list, safety checklist and weekly operations review.
  • Conducts required audits as required by policy; makes corrections to ensure store stays in compliance.
