Job Description
Has primary responsibility for the management and supervision of the non-medical counselors. Provides weekly supervision regarding clinical and administrative issues, maintains consistency in service delivery, and assures program compliance with DoD (Department of Defense) expectations.
- Directs the provision of non-medical, problem-solving counseling, psycho-educational workshops, consultations with Military One Source (MOS) clients, service members and family members.
- Manages services provided by counselors assigned to permanent positions, on demand and surge events.
- Directs the timely collection of counselor activity data to facilitate internal and external program reporting.
- Directs the non-medical counselors in their consultations and sessions regarding the effective handling of a wide range of requests to meet the participant’s needs.
- Monitors the interactions of non-medical counselors with service and family members, teammates and community resource representatives to ensure timely, effective assistance is given to the service members and their families.
- Provides clinical oversight to ensure counselors understand the individual service and family member needs, develop action plans to address needs, and provide appropriate coaching to utilize suggested resources.
- Review and supervise the duty to warn reporting and restricted reporting processes to ensure service and family member safety and compliance with the special nuances of DoD protocols.
- Monitors the implementation of new or enhanced MOS and company policies and procedures. Uses the quality improvement process to assess changes in policies and procedures.
- Participates in the Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee and process providing feedback from field operations.

Master’s degree in health, mental health, or related field required.
Must meet Magellan’s credentialing criteria for a Masters or Doctoral level provider.
Must be licensed in the state of practice and licensed at the independent practice level.
5+ years’ post masters experience in mental health service delivery settings.
1+ years direct supervisory experience required or will substitute direct supervisory experience for successful and increasing prior service as a Non-Medical counselor.
Experience in both adult and child/youth programs.
Excellent organization, time management and communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of military culture and military life style with understanding of issues including stressors of multiple deployments, frequent moves of self and family, etc.
Ability to develop teams and to function effectively as team leader and team facilitator.
Ability to analyze utilization and workload data to inform on-going supervision and to direct the planning and implementation processes that contribute to MOS quality improvement.
Ability to use computer systems and smart phone technology for word and data processing and data transmission.
This position may require extensive travel.
