Job Title: Supply Chain Director

Overview: The Supply Chain director for our large truck manufacturing company handles the overall supply chain operations. This role involves managing procurement, logistics, inventory, and supplier relationships to ensure a seamless and efficient flow of materials to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning:
  • Develop and execute the overall supply chain strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate supply chain plans with broader business strategies.
  • Procurement and Sourcing:
  • Leads procurement initiatives, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
  • Ensure the selection of reliable and cost-effective suppliers, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Logistics Management:
  • Oversee transportation, distribution, and logistics operations to optimize efficiency and reduce lead times in the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies to minimize costs and enhance delivery performance.
  • Inventory Optimization:
  • Establish and maintain effective inventory management processes to support production schedules while minimizing carrying costs.
  • Implement inventory control systems and strategies to ensure accurate and timely stock levels.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring a secure supply chain.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure business continuity through effective risk management and contingency planning.
  • Cost Management:
  • Analyze cost structures across the supply chain and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Provide leadership and direction to the supply chain team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting professional growth and succession planning.
  • Technology Integration:
  • Evaluate and implement supply chain technologies to enhance visibility, efficiency, and responsiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to ensure the company remains at the forefront of supply chain management

practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience (5-10 years) in supply chain leadership roles, preferably in manufacturing or heavy equipment industries.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to align supply chain initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes, logistics, and procurement best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to travel to multiple site locations.
