Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager. Support the organization to ensure on-going health, safety, and environmental excellence, acting as a pivotal point between operational teams and management. Focuses on ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and standards across the organization. Carries out risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis to resolve HSE issues. The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the health, safety, and environmental management program within the organization.
Key Responsibilities in Health and Safety Management
- Proactively ensure that all operations comply with HSE regulations, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and relevant industry standards, anticipating changes in legislation and guiding the organization to meet these evolving requirements
- Foster a proactive safety culture across the organization by engaging with all levels of staff to embed health, safety, and environmental best practices into daily operations.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE programs and initiatives.
- Ensuring they align with organizational goals and create measurable impact.
- Lead investigations into safety and environmental incidents, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Use data-driven insights to continuously assess and improve HSE performance, leveraging KPIs and metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for enhanced safety practices.
- Manage the issuance of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for HSE noncompliance or deviations, working closely with operational teams to identify corrective actions and ensure their timely and effective implementation.
- Ensure all HSE-related documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, and compliance records, is meticulously maintained, regularly reviewed, and readily accessible for audits or inspections.
- Develop and deliver impactful HSE training programs tailored to different levels of staff, promoting engagement, awareness, and responsibility for health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Collaborate closely with operations and maintenance teams to assess risk, eliminate hazards, and drive improvements that elevate the safety performance of all projects and facilities.
- Prepare clear, actionable reports for senior management, providing insights into HSE performance, trends, incidents, and areas for improvement on a weekly/monthly basis.
- Regularly review and update HSE policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with the latest regulations and best practices, and that they effectively address operational realities and risks.
- Act as the key liaison with external regulatory bodies, authorities, and auditors, ensuring the organization remains compliant and prepared for inspections or external reviews.
- Collaborate with the business development team to review HSE requirements in tender documents, ensuring the submission of accurate and relevant safety documentation for bids.
- Develop and maintain HSE-related IMS procedures, ensuring their integration with other management systems to create a streamlined and effective approach.
- Serve as a trusted HSE leader, providing guidance and support across the organization, championing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental management.
- Demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving capabilities in handling HSE challenges, offering innovative solutions that drive safe outcomes and operational excellence.
- Execute any other HSE-related tasks that contribute to the overall safety and environmental performance of the organization. And participate in leading in any emergency and evacuation plan.
Essential Qualifications And Skills For HSE Leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in HSE, industrial, or mechanical/electrical/civil engineering or related discipline required from a recognized university.
- Professional certification in HSE, such as OHSA, NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar, is required.
- Overall Professional experience for 10 years at least in relevant industry experience/exposure.
- Proven record of implementing successful safety programs that have reduced incidents and improved compliance.
- Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices and initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to safety details.
- Proficient in risk assessment and management techniques.
