Senior Category Buyer

Job Description

High Tide Inc. is seeking a Senior Category Buyer, in Calgary, AB. Our organization is fast paced, growing, and highly successful in the cannabis retail space. As a Category Buyer, you will be responsible for working closely with category management and other stakeholders to provide support required. Responsibilities include inventory analysis, database management (Tech POS, Sage X3, and similar), ensuring timely arrival of product, while maintaining data integrity in the point-of-sale system. The position reports to our Senior Director, Procurement & Sourcing in our Calgary, AB office.

  • Purchasing and maintenance of systemwide cannabis inventory across multiple provinces.
  • Maintenance of Tech POS database.
  • Execute weekly/daily forecast analytics & provide insight on forecast variance, potential promotional product, while identifying growth opportunities.
  • Execute cannabis orders.
  • Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure supplier and product specification and pricing database is up to date and current.
  • Support negotiations skills.
  • Pro-actively identify and make recommendations related to balancing supply/demand, inventory levels, capacities, and customer fulfillment.
  • Coordinate the movement of inventory items when required.
  • Recommend and deliver improvements to the supply planning and supply chain execution processes.
  • Work closely with compliance team to ensure efficient delivery of federal reporting.
  • Support with process related to new store openings.
  • Support other supply chain/category management initiatives when requested.
  • 5 plus years of progressive experience in a purchasing or supply chain role.
  • Strong track record of meeting inventory management targets.
  • Ability to support with training other team members.
  • Experience in cannabis industry either in purchasing or in retail an asset.
  • Seamless verbal and written communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain and develop professional working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel at an advanced level).
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent ability to identify process improvements.
  • High level of initiative.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
