Position Overview:

The General Manager (GM) of an International School is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the school. The GM ensures that the school meets its strategic goals while maintaining the highest educational and operational standards. Reporting directly to the School Board or Principal, the GM collaborates with academic and non-academic staff to create an environment that supports academic excellence and holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the schools strategic plan in alignment with its mission and vision.
  • Identify growth opportunities and drive initiatives for academic and operational excellence.
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders, including parents, students, staff, and external partners.

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including facilities management, IT, and administrative processes.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, accreditation standards, and international school best practices.
  • Implement and manage school policies, procedures, and standards.

Financial Oversight

  • Prepare and manage the schools annual budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Monitor financial performance, including tuition collection, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, sponsorships, and partnerships to support the schools financial health.

Human Resource Management

  • Supervise and support academic and non-academic staff, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensure staff performance evaluations and professional development plans are conducted regularly.

Admissions and Marketing

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student enrollment and retention.
  • Collaborate with the admissions and marketing teams to promote the school locally and internationally.
  • Represent the school at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

Student and Parent Engagement

  • Address parent and student concerns, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and engagement.
  • Support initiatives that enhance student well-being, safety, and extracurricular activities.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, and global citizenship within the school community.

Governance and Reporting

  • Serve as the key liaison between the School Board and operational teams, providing regular updates on school performance.
  • Develop and present reports on operational, financial, and academic metrics.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in all aspects of school management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within an educational institution.
  • Strong understanding of international education systems and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, operations, and teams effectively.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a diverse, international environment.
