Bain Capital Special Situations has $20 billion in assets under management and has invested $35 billion since its founding in 2002. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Associate program is a two-year commitment (with potential for ongoing employment following end of program). As part of this experience, Associates can co-invest alongside our fund and thereby participate in opportunities for significant equity appreciation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform fundamental company-specific research in industry specific sectors – visiting company management, doing original on-site research in the field (with customers, suppliers, and others likely to have unique insight into a company’s or industry’s fundamentals), and attending industry conferences

Perform industry-level analyses that will inform the investment process and provide critical context

Build earnings models and perform valuation analysis

Make proactive buy/sell recommendations and communicate your views effectively with team members

Learn and adopt the firm’s straightforward investment process, characterized by direct verbal communication and/or concise written investment summaries supported by in-depth data-driven analysis (i.e., quantitative models of market size/growth, competitive positioning, and financial statements/analysis valuation)

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of post-undergrad business and/or investing experience with a highly regarded investment management/banking firm or private equity firm
  • Experience analyzing and/or evaluating companies
  • Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience
  • Work experience characterized by strong and disciplined analytical skills to execute data-driven industry and competitive evaluations
  • A fundamental, analytically-driven approach to investing
  • Experience interacting with and assessing senior management teams and strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments
  • Strong analytical/modeling capability
  • Self-motivated and “high-energy,” with a great sense of urgency and drive to succeed
  • Naturally inquisitive and a great listener. Flexible thinker with strong drive to find the right answer
  • Creative approach to due diligence
  • Excellent communication skills, able to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly. Open to spirited debate over ideas
  • A high degree of self-confidence, conviction, and personal maturity
