Summary Position
The Category Manager drives sales and profitability for pharmacy products in an in-house retail setting. Responsibilities include strategic planning, vendor management, and market analysis. Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, pharmacy, or related field; MBA preferred.
Experience: 2-4 years proven experience in category management, product management, or retail pharmacy operations, preferably within the healthcare industry.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement category plans for pharmacy products, considering customer preferences, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
Analyze sales data, market insights, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and expansion within the pharmacy category.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, availability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Lead marketing efforts for pharmacy products, including promotional campaigns, product launches, and advertising initiatives to drive customer engagement and increase sales.
Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure proper product placement, signage, and merchandising in-store and online, optimizing visibility and customer appeal.
Develop pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market, considering factors such as product demand, cost, and customer value perception.
Utilize data analytics tools to track category performance metrics, such as sales, margin, inventory turnover, and customer satisfaction, and develop action plans to address any issues or capitalize on opportunities.
Conduct regular business reviews with key stakeholders to review category performance, discuss insights, and adjust strategies as needed to meet business objectives.
Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in pharmacy products and services to anticipate shifts in consumer behavior and market dynamics.
Lead cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives related to pharmacy category management and business development.
