A multi-faceted position that is responsible for the overall design of bedding and/or bath product as assigned. Responsible for expediting design/product development for various projects as needed as well as the added responsibilities from concept to finished product for designated ensembles or for entire brands. This includes coordination and implementation of all development to meet necessary deadlines as well as communication and coordinating with merchandising, product managers, artist team, vendors, customers as licensors as needed at each stage of development.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain awareness of current trends (design industry and retail) in both home and fashion to insure that all product development for Revman and licensed brands is on trend and saleable by attending industry seminars and/or trade shows, conducting market/retail research and reviewing industry publications
  • Responsible for increasing design and product development experience to enable increased responsibility within the department
  • Support company merchandising and product development initiatives regardless of brand.
  • Responsible for working directly with their supervisor, Merchandising, product managers, vendors, and independently, to ensure that all developments meet appropriate target pricing, critical ship dates and merchandising requirements (minimums, lead times, etc.) for assigned brands
  • Coordinate with Brand Manager artwork needed for brand approval prior to customer presentations.
  • Application of previous purchase knowledge to better design and curate artwork presentations.
  • Help manage development in NY as requested on NPI and complex platforms.
  • Participation in meetings and critiques of artwork/presentations.
  • Responsible for providing detailed and complete development information to Product Development Assistant (PDA) in order to initiate new projects with vendors via PLM system (marketing color, material info, construction details, etc.) Work closely with PDA to ensure data is accurately inputted and updated for all developments
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with vendors and co-workers to facilitate on-time and accurate product for all assigned brands, which includes designing to specified target pricing and finding creative solutions to obtain desired look at best pricing
  • Responsible for reviewing and responding with comments/corrections for all submits (strike offs, handlooms, lab dips, prototypes) in a timely manner and follow up with vendor on re-submits as necessary to reach approval by specified deadline
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining accurate files and references on all projects, both past and current
  • Responsible for assisting their supervisor in staying within annual design budget for assigned brands

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Product Development or related field required
  • Two to five years of Home Fashions experience with related home product development fields
  • Knowledge of competitive market is beneficial in order to determine future trends
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator is recommended as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office programs to include Excel
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in order to effectively communicate and report information to all levels of the Company as well as with vendors
  • Possess strong organizational and analytical skills as well as strong project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed
  • Ability to multi-task on a routine basis, be detail-oriented, adapt plans and change direction as needed, have a proactive mindset and have the ability to perform the job under a moderate to high level of stress
