Job Description
PEPFAR Implementing Partners in Cameroon have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as HIV Prevention Support Coordinators. CDC Cameroon and its implementing partners (IPs) are strengthening Cameroon’s response to the HIV epidemic with funding and support from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The IPs are seeking support to strengthen capacity to provide high-quality HIV prevention interventions at clinical and community sites in the Adamawa, South and East Regions respectively.
The PCRVs will work in collaboration with staff at the host institutions to identify and strengthen capacity to implement HIV prevention programming and improve service delivery quality to adolescents and youth at the community and facility levels, including training for site-level staff. The PCRVs will also provide support for data collection, management, analysis and reporting; this could include development and/or implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support quality data collection and reporting.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Cameroon together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, nursing, international development, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of work experience in the field of public health, nursing, HIV outreach, international development, etc.
- Intermediate French writing and speaking skills (a language test may be required).
- Flexibility, patience, strong cross-cultural agility.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-starter, able to work independently; resourceful, creative, motivated.
- Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills, ability to present information and conduct training sessions.
- Strong written communication skills, ability to write and edit training materials and reports.
- Adaptability to working in low-resource environments and occasional travel.
