Position Description
U.S. Soccer is seeking a Sr. Manager, Digital Strategy to manage and author content for owned digital platforms, creating a best in class digital destination for our fans and members while driving reach, relevance and revenue.
The Sr. Manager, Digital Strategy will also be responsible for creating written articles for the website, covering the whole of U.S. Soccer’s ecosystem, from the National Teams, to the Open Cup, coaching, refereeing and more. This role will also be responsible for updating content on static pages and microsites within U.S. Soccer’s digital ecosystem.
The person in this role should be comfortable working with a variety of different content management systems, from written content and website/app CMS, to video management systems (Brightcove, YouTube). Collaboration within marketing (content, social, video and communications) will be key, in addition to working closely with internal product managers and analytics leads to develop U.S. Soccer’s digital platforms and execution of its content strategy.
We are seeking someone relationship driven with the ability to collaborate, communicate and build trust with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for executing U.S. Soccer’s digital content strategy
- Publishing and managing content updates on USSoccer.com, the app, microsites and YouTube to ensure content is timely, relevant and accurate
- Writing short-form articles for USSoccer.com and the app around USSF events, games and initiatives
- Build, organize and manage content calendars for posts and campaigns in collaboration with stakeholders throughout the organization
- Optimize web content (articles, pages and videos) for SEO
- Assists in the creation of web pages up using modular design template, based on needs from across the organization (Commercial, Sport Development, Governance, etc.)
- Assess user journeys and behavior to create recommendations on USSoccer.com site architecture so users are finding relevant content, staying longer, and consistently coming back
- Document and communicate broken experiences and other user-facing bugs to product team
- Recommend content ideas based on website and app performance
- Coordinates with Marketing teams and Analytics to develop tactics to drive web traffic through paid search, paid social, email marketing, etc.
- Works closely with Event Marketing and Promotions as well as functional area leads to effectively utilize owned digital properties to generate awareness, familiarity and engagement with relevant soccer competitions, programs, and platforms
- Partner with insights and analytics teams to set learning agenda and incorporate findings into real-time improvements for digital plans
- Collaborate with U.S. Soccer’s partnership team to ensure branded content delivers and complies with platform and partner requirements
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years experience managing and producing digital content.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices, including relevant meta data and tags
- Experience with publishing and updating high-traffic websites in CMS.
- Understanding and mastery of AP Style
- Used to performing and exceling in fast-paced environments, while under pressure.
- A self-starter capable of taking initiative.
- Capable of working with a large number of stakeholders.
- Background or experience working for a media/news company is helpful.
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to work out of U.S. Soccer’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA
- Discretion. This roll will be privy to confidential information.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere)
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
