Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Lead Clinician to provide brief individual and family crisis counseling and intervention services for clients aged four years and older in the Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) Clinic. This role combines direct clinical care with leadership responsibilities to support the daily operations of the BHUC and ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
Under the supervision of the BHUC Clinic Manager, the Lead Clinician plays a vital role in crisis intervention, care coordination, and ensuring a positive and effective clinic environment.
Location: Durham, NC
Compensation: starting at $61,770
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
- Provide brief therapeutic interventions, individual and family crisis counseling, and psychoeducation tailored to client needs and diagnoses.
- Develop and implement crisis plans with clients and their families, ensuring appropriate follow-up care.
- Assist clients in accessing community resources and referrals to address case management needs.
- Document all services provided, including treatment notes, goals, and plans, such as service consents, discharge summaries, and releases of information.
- Offer parent/guardian/caregiver training to promote effective behavior management strategies.
Leadership Duties
- Serve as the manager on duty in the absence of the BHUC Clinic Manager.
- Address day-to-day operational challenges within the BHUC.
- Foster a positive work environment by collaborating with staff to ensure effective service delivery.
- Provide case consultations, assist with crisis management, and act as backup for staff when needed.
- Guide and support staff with documentation, professional development, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with management to address authorization issues and optimize client flow from intake to discharge.
- Assist in hiring, training, and retaining high-quality staff members.
- Represent Carolina Outreach in community engagements, promoting open communication with community partners.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience and Skills:
- Experience in crisis counseling and intervention preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage staff and resolve operational challenges effectively.
