Position Information
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum one year experience in academic counseling or advising.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, logical reasoning, and problem solving skills.
- Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Outstanding writing skills.
- Advising services are offered at the main campus as well as at OU-Macomb and other off campus sites.
- Applicants should have the ability to commute and/or permanently relocate to Oakland or Macomb county sites if needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of the university’s academic policies, procedures and curricula.

Position Details
Position Purpose
Provide academic advising to current and prospective undergraduate students who are pursuing or plan to pursue an undergraduate degree program in the School of Education and Human Services Create a graduation plan with each student and assist students facing challenges along the way. Perform necessary administrative functions to maintain student records including overrides, preliminary registration, transfer credit evaluations, change of major, major standing, and graduation audits. Attend admissions and orientations as well as other programs designated by SEHS . Utilize advising tools and technology to support student success, retention and graduation initiatives at the departmental and university-wide level.
