Job Description
SMG is an established business in the UK, with a growing team in North America and the ambition to expand our presence in this market. We are the esteemed parent company of Threefold, an award-winning Retail Media Network agency.
Our services include consultancy, evaluation, and a white-label in-house solution that has seen the agency build, run and operate over 10 Retail Media Networks.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Client Director to be part of a specialist team that delivers expert consultancy projects to various retail & commerce partners looking to grow their commerce advertising capabilities. You will report to the senior business director, who will report to the chief strategy officer. We operate a hybrid-remote model, working up to 3 days from our New York Office.
You will lead global consultancy projects (predominantly for North American clients). This encompasses project scoping and content creation, project delivery to clients, and project conversion into future SMG clients, including commercial modelling and negotiation.
This role blends strategic, detailed work with the need for someone who can also excel in a client-facing commercial role. The Consulting & New Business Team is the gateway to SMG securing future client contracts and is, therefore, of high strategic importance to the business.
As a Client Director at SMG, you will:
- Lead global consultancy projects for retail and commerce clients, including scoping, content creation, and project delivery, ensuring an understanding of SMG’s strategic goals.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client partners, often at the C-Suite level
- Develop custom consulting responses, including strategic and operational plans, size of prize analysis, and commercial modelling, tailored to client needs.
- Create impactful, visually compelling presentations and convey industry-leading insights with a 3-5 year outlook.
- Collaborate with our teams and partners to build SMG’s consulting capability, including market benchmarking, operational model optimization, and change management materials.
- Support new business development by assisting in creating commercial models and proposals while contributing to negotiation strategies.
- Project manage complex consulting projects involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring high-quality deliverables and smooth handovers to our teams.
- Promote SMG’s reputation as a leader in commerce media networks by delivering exceptional client outcomes, promoting client retention, and providing market feedback to shape future strategies.
You will:
- Apply your expertise in the North American retail and commerce media landscape to deliver strategic, data-driven proposals and recommendations for clients.
- Lead complex, high-value projects from start to finish, including strategic planning, financial modelling, and creating clear, impactful narratives.
- Collaborate with and influence senior team members while promoting long-term professional relationships to support client and organizational goals.
- Manage multiple high-priority projects, applying your analytical and creative skills to develop tailored solutions.
- Demonstrate strong communication and commercial knowledge to address diverse audience needs and accomplish successful outcomes.
And in return, SMG offers:
- A base salary range of $130,000 – $150,000
- A generous discretionary bonus scheme
- 20 PTO days plus US holidays, with the flexibility to carry over unused days to the following year
- $3,510 yearly wellbeing fund (in addition to your salary!) towards your personal wellbeing and passions
- 4 additional Wellbeing Days – one to be taken each quarter, dedicated to focusing on your wellbeing
- Healthcare paid for (dental, medical & vision) with the option to top up for your family
- A matched 401k program with immediate vesting
- Yearly investment into your professional development and learning
- Free headspace subscription
- 4 pm Friday finishes all year round
- Two paid company conferences per year in Summer & Winter
