Job Overview
We are in search of an innovative and strategic Vice President of Research and Development (R&D) to spearhead our R&D division. This pivotal role will enhance our leadership in research and innovation, while fostering new methodologies and practices that contribute to our mission of equitable access to education and economic mobility within California.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute a strategic vision for R&D initiatives, establishing clear objectives and performance metrics.
- Cultivate and manage a dynamic team that thrives on innovation, collaboration, and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and oversee policies and procedures pertinent to R&D operations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align resources with ambitious strategic goals.
- Conduct ongoing student-centric research and evaluate partnerships to identify new opportunities for program offerings.
- Disseminate data and findings to inform enhanced educational practices and support mechanisms.
- Scale impactful solutions to address pressing workforce and educational challenges.
- Direct the innovation and data analytics framework of the institution.
- Serve as a thought leader internally and externally, coordinating efforts to implement innovative solutions.
- Engage with various stakeholders, including philanthropic partners, to achieve shared R&D objectives.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational and systems-thinking capabilities, coupled with innovative problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of trends in human-centered design and digital service delivery.
- Proven leadership and management acumen, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly.
- Experience building and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Proficient in data analysis and budget management.
Qualifications
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent is required.
- 7-10 years of experience in innovation, strategic design, or R&D roles.
- Preferred 5 years of experience in Human-Centered Design or related fields, encompassing user research, service design, and implementation of innovative solutions.
