An opportunity has arisen for a Sales Manager develop marketing and tactical plans to grow the revenue in the business unit by indentifying new and existing business opportunities that result in more sales revnue for the group.

Minimum Requirements

  • Transport management/ Logistics management qualification
  • Advanced Diploma/NQF 7
  • Experience in a similar role Up to 10 years

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Control

  • Analyse Client operational financial information
  • Compile quotes to customers that secure revenue
  • Prepare transport costings and rate cards
  • Ensure financial administrative work to open new client account

Manage and Control revenue: Costs and profit:

  • Achievement of expected revenue growth targets
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities at clients that result in more business for Unitrans
  • Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to (Internal)

Secure Future Business Growth

  • Revenue growth for existing and new clients
  • Identify new opportunities and innovative solutions
  • Identify potential strategic alliances/ventures in the market whilst building client relationships
  • Secure new markets/customers, particularly in respect of logistic support and backward integration into customers
  • Survey markets and competitor activity and keep abreast of competition and market trends
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline of business opportunities
  • Create long term contractual opportunities were possible and through relationships
  • Visit clients on a regular basis to build up sound relationships
  • Ensure sales targets are achieved and exceeded
  • Develop and implement weekly call cycles
  • Ensure existing customer base is maintained
  • Ensure profit margins are met and exceeded on work won

Develop New Ways Of Providing Service

  • Provide solutions to customer needs (logistics) inward and outward bound
  • Management and building business cases for the achievement thereof

Implement And Manage New Projects

  • Work closely with operations to match sales targets with truck capacities
  • Ongoing reporting on projects and volumes

Competencies Required

  • Knowledge of the petrochemicals transport industry and operations
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate market trends and customer logistics data
  • Excellent relationship skills
  • Innovative and lateral thinking
  • Hands on management style
  • Must be able to be a self-starter and work Independently but with support
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • A good listener
  • Team player and ability to work in a dynamic team environment
