About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical design engineering and associated technical support to Chevron’s Refining and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets. This role will be responsible for providing support for field engineering, engineering work package development and other engineering related activities. The role is part of the Mechanical Design Engineering Team at the Chevron ENGINE Center.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Support day-to-day operations by providing strategic engineering support of the operating assets; this includes minor design changes, minor project scopes, long-term maintenance support and technical input into long-term process or reliability related issues
  • Perform Management of Change for design packages and associated changes
  • Provide support for quality inspection, checks and specification of new equipment
  • Provide technical support for planned mechanical equipment scopes occurring on site during routine, campaign maintenance or Turnarounds including development of Engineering Work Packages
  • Support planning materials maintenance planning, materials planning and procurement activities as required
  • Conduct minor work package design for Asset Brownfield Engineering related Projects, as well as providing input and conducting design studies in Opportunity Development
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs)
  • Support mechanical equipment fitness for service assessments in accordance with API codes and standards, as well as providing support for Root Cause Investigations and other equipment related incidents
  • Identify mechanical equipment risks and deliver solutions to enable safe operation of the plant
  • Leverage expertise and knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, Pressure Safety Valves, Marine Loading Arms and other related static equipment

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
  • Ideally 8 – 15 years of experience in an operational support role or similar for a complex refinery or LNG facility (preferred)
