Duties And Responsibilities

Admitting Clerk:

  • Responsible for scheduling patients to be seen in the office. Accurately obtains appropriate histories, prior diagnostic tests results, and all other necessary information to facilitate constructive patient visits to the office. Verifies healthy connection referrals are in place, if required.
  • Responsible for obtaining signature on Condition of Admission forms.
  • Responsible for gathering correct information for proper insurance submission.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, coworkers, and physicians to facilitate good daily workflow.
  • Check for cancellations daily through reminder call.
  • Schedules return appointments and procedures.
  • Prepare charts/paperwork/consents for following days patients.
  • Receive patient payments or a co-payment as required. Posts transactions appropriately to system. Counting money drawer and verifying correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
  • Required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
  • Maintains office records, reports, and files as required.
  • Responsible for knowing office policies and being familiar with what services are available through the office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or higher. Current BLS Certification.
  • Minimum of three month’s related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical Terminology is not necessary but preferable.
  • Ability to use hospital information system, electronic medical record and operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to patients, their families, referring offices, diagnostic and therapeutic facilities via phone, fax, computerized ordering systems and in person.
  • Good communication skills, and ability to work well with others. Team player and flexible.
