Vision Systems Architect

Overview

We are looking for an accomplished Vision Systems Architect to spearhead the architectural design and advancement of cutting-edge intelligent imaging systems tailored for innovative consumer electronics. This position encompasses comprehensive oversight of vision systems, from image sensing through image signal processing and computer vision to machine learning and application integration, with a focus on optimizing performance, image quality, and overall user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complete vision system architecture covering sensor input, ISP, CV/ML frameworks, and application layers.
• Interpret product and user experience requirements to create scalable technical solutions.
• Formulate image quality strategies that align with AI objectives and enhance user satisfaction.
• Design reusable and modular computer vision and machine learning frameworks applicable across diverse product models.
• Balance system trade-offs involving performance, power consumption, cost constraints, and thermal management.
• Establish AI model lifecycles from initial training phases through over-the-air updates deployment.
• Engineer heterogeneous computing strategies utilizing CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, and DSPs.
• Define and monitor system KPIs including latency, frames per second, power usage, memory footprint, boot time, and reliability metrics.
• Make critical technology decisions about inference engines, supporting frameworks, and hardware platforms.
• Oversee SoC bring-up activities and validate vision pipeline performance.
• Implement coding standards and modular design principles to ensure long-term maintainability.
• Proactively identify risks and devise mitigation plans.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as hardware engineering, ISP tuning, platform teams (Android/Linux), and product management.
• Provide mentorship to senior engineers and enforce architectural governance.
• Contribute to the strategic long-term vision and AI roadmap across multiple product generations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline; PhD preferred.
• Between 10 to 15+ years of relevant industry experience in imaging, vision, or perception systems.
• Documented success in designing and shipping consumer products embedded with vision and AI capabilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the imaging pipeline including sensor characteristics, ISP processing, and tuning impacts.
• Proven expertise in embedded systems architecture.
• Outstanding proficiency with C++ and systems-level optimization techniques.
• Deep experience integrating computer vision and machine learning systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying optimized ML models on consumer system-on-chips.
• Familiarity with heterogeneous computing architectures.
• Competence defining and managing system-level KPIs and validation methodologies.
• Excellent leadership skills and effective cross-team communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with computational photography pipelines.
• Background in AR/VR or advanced camera functionality.
• Expertise in silicon bring-up and hardware/software co-design efforts.
• Experience managing large-scale model deployment and over-the-air updates.
• Knowledge of multi-camera or depth sensing technologies.
• Contributions to patents or technical journals.
• Proven leadership in architecture across several product generations.
