About the Role
The Quality Coordinator position is a site-based role located in Cork, supporting the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role is integral to implementing and maintaining the project quality management system, ensuring all construction actions meet client specifications, contract obligations, standards, and regulations. The coordinator will focus on unifying quality procedures, managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Records (ITRs), BIM quality coordination, documentation control, inspection assistance, and tracking quality throughout project stages from design to handover. Collaboration with site teams, subcontractors, designers, stakeholders, and the quality department is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support aligning project activities with ISO 9001 and company quality standards.
- Monitor and report on quality KPIs and overall performance metrics.
- Standardize quality workflows, documentation, and forms across various sites and projects.
- Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, designers, and clients regarding quality requirements.
- Assist in conducting site inspections, audits, and sign-offs on hold and witness points.
- Manage the scheduling and sequencing of ITPs and ensure inspection holds and witness points match site operations.
- Evaluate and monitor ITRs, ensuring proper evidence collection, review, and closure per ITP guidelines.
- Support BIM quality coordination, including model status assessments, issuing drawing sheets, and managing quality-related data exchange.
- Maintain and control versioning of ITP/ITR registers within the project Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Promote the use of standardized ITP/ITR templates across projects and sites.
- Oversee proper documentation control and version management of all quality records.
- Compile accurate and comprehensive quality records, ensuring completeness.
- Support preparation of quality documents throughout all project phases from tendering to handover.
- Ensure accessibility and storage of all quality documentation on a cloud-based platform.
- Record and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), support their investigation and ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor corrective and preventive measures and assist in analyzing trends related to non-conformance.
- Support internal and external audit preparations and help facilitate site quality audits.
- Track audit outcomes and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with client technical specifications, contracts, and quality standards.
- Coordinate material approvals and confirm conformance documentation aligns with ITP requirements.
- Assist with delivery paperwork, material certifications, and inspection documentation.
- Review quality documentation related to suppliers and subcontractors.
- Engage in project meetings providing updates on quality matters and liaise with document control, design, engineering, BIM, and site teams.
- Promote quality awareness, support training sessions and toolbox talks related to quality.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and quality documentation standards.
- Advocate for consistent, standardized quality practices within design and construction teams.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong understanding of construction and engineering workflows, especially relating to water/wastewater infrastructure delivered through design and build models.
- Knowledgeable about quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and familiar with construction quality documents like ITPs and ITRs.
- Excellent organizational and coordination abilities with strong attention to detail and document management skills.
- Effective communication and cooperative teamwork skills.
- Capable of managing various tasks and priorities effectively.
- Working knowledge of BIM processes and Common Data Environment platforms is beneficial.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between one and three years’ experience in construction, engineering, or quality support roles, ideally in design and build or civil engineering projects.
- Experience with document control systems, BIM/CDE tools, and site-based work environments is preferred.
- Understanding of inspection processes, ITPs/ITRs, and quality documentation relevant to construction activities.
