Role Overview

The QA Tester role entails executing daily software testing tasks to ensure that JReed Tech Group's products uphold high quality standards prior to launch. This is a full-time, on-location position based in Kiambu, Kenya. The primary responsibilities include implementing test plans and cases, detecting defects, documenting issues, and working closely with developers and product teams to address and resolve problems. The tester will conduct manual tests of new functionalities and bug fixes, confirm resolution of issues, and perform regression testing on HustleGuard and other platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Manually testing new software features and evaluating bug fixes.
  • Executing regression tests to ensure existing functionalities remain stable.
  • Identifying and documenting software defects and issues.
  • Collaborating with development and product teams to facilitate problem resolution.
  • Analyzing system behavior and validating both functional and non-functional criteria.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of testing procedures and documentation.
  • Providing actionable feedback on product usability and reliability to improve user experience for African businesses.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge of Quality Assurance, particularly in Manual Testing and organized test execution.
  • Capability to design, sustain, and carry out clear and comprehensive test cases.
  • Robust analytical abilities to detect defects, interpret test outcomes, and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Understanding of software development life cycles and experience collaborating with engineering and product teams.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and clear communication skills in English.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced onsite startup environment in Kiambu, Kenya.
  • Preferred educational background includes a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience testing web or mobile applications and familiarity with testing tools or issue tracking software is advantageous.
