About The Role
The Straits Times, Singapore's premier English daily widely read across the nation, is seeking an experienced lifestyle journalist for its Life section. The position focuses on covering lifestyle news that enhances how audiences live, work, socialize, travel, dine, and dress.
Key Responsibilities
- Stay avidly updated with lifestyle content across various domains.
- Identify and analyze emerging trends in the lifestyle sector, transforming them into informative and engaging stories.
- Create multi-platform content, utilizing social media, video production, SEO, podcasts, and radio to expand the ST Life brand presence.
- Produce written material with creativity and flair.
- Exhibit curiosity towards global lifestyle developments and openness to novel experiences.
- Demonstrate diligence, resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess 3 to 10 years of experience in journalism; experience in lifestyle or news reporting is advantageous.
- Hold a degree from a recognized university.
- Exhibit excellent proficiency in English.
- Show strong writing and reporting capabilities, capable of delivering compelling content under tight deadlines.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills for maintaining professional relationships with news sources, peers, and the audience.
- Have a good news sense and understanding of online and mobile reader engagement.
- Be comfortable using social media and digital tools for research, reporting, and content promotion.
- Be willing to work flexible schedules, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
