Lead Software Engineer - Java with Microservices

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Lead Software Engineer with extensive experience in Java and microservices to architect and develop scalable backend systems. The role focuses on utilizing modern Java technologies and cloud platforms to create reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions. The ideal candidate will play a key role in architectural planning, code quality assurance, and mentoring the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and design robust enterprise-level applications using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Create and implement microservices architectures deployed on various cloud environments.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to facilitate communication between backend and frontend modules.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical leadership to engineering peers.
• Make architectural decisions that enforce quality, security, compliance, and reliability standards.
• Implement Agile and DevOps methodologies throughout the development lifecycle.
• Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines supporting continuous integration and delivery.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges within the application stack.
• Utilize containerization and orchestration tools for deploying and managing services efficiently.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Over 10 years of hands-on experience in Java 21, Quarkus, and Java/JEE design and development.
• Strong proficiency with Spring Boot, Spring Security, and unit testing frameworks like JUnit.
• Experience working with relational databases including Oracle, Sybase, and PL/SQL.
• Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, Azure Cloud services, and serverless computing.
• Expertise in Kubernetes ecosystem, including pods, containers, services, and Istio service mesh.
• Familiarity with container technology Docker and caching solutions like Redis.
• Skilled in designing and integrating RESTful APIs connecting backend and frontend interfaces.
• Proficient in version control using Git, CI/CD pipeline management with GitLab, and Agile development processes.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and React (including Hooks).
• Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript languages.
• Background in performance tuning as well as DevOps practices.
• Ability to translate UX designs into responsive, scalable, and maintainable user interfaces abiding by industry standards.
