Role Overview
An opening is available in Jubail, Saudi Arabia for an Engineer, Fire. This position reports to the Fire Superintendent.
Job Summary
The role focuses on ensuring that all plant firefighting systems and equipment remain compliant with NFPA requirements. The engineer will also provide technical assistance to the fire team in inspection, testing, and emergency response activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, update, and apply fire protection policies and procedures in line with Tasnee Fire Protection Standards, NFPA requirements, and local HCIS SAF directives.
- Take part in emergency response planning and help execute fire emergency pre-plans.
- Examine fire-related reports such as daily supervisor updates and fitness reports, identify follow-up actions, support progress, and share feedback with the relevant fire assurance stakeholders.
- Contribute to fire risk assessments, management of change activities, and investigations.
- Liaise with production teams to confirm the needs for fire precaution equipment and related support.
- Back up the fire team during alarms and provide technical support at emergency scenes.
- Compile reports that show the condition of all fire precaution equipment.
- As required, coordinate with Tasnee, JAMA’A, and other petrochemical industries in Jubail on matters such as fire equipment issues and benchmarking.
- Oversee maintenance work connected to fire station facilities and equipment in accordance with HCIS SAF directives.
- Identify gaps in fire and gas systems and propose corrective solutions.
- Review data and reports, then develop action plans to strengthen fire performance.
- Make sure preventive and corrective maintenance compliance is maintained for fire equipment and fire trucks.
- Check and preserve inspection, testing, and maintenance records as required.
- Provide technical input for contracts and project evaluations.
- Review fire project packages and move them forward for HCIS approval.
- Review, improve, and support IMRS16 while ensuring complete compliance.
- Set up and maintain SAP master data or entities for emergency response equipment.
- Conduct fire training in line with the competency training plan.
- Act in the Fire SI role during the incumbent’s absence.
- Review and revise procedures for the fire section.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering or an equivalent discipline is required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment as a Fire Protection Engineer is required.
- Current certification in Firefighter Level II is required.
- Certification in Hazmat is required.
- Certification in Rescue is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong incident investigation capability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Well-developed planning and organization skills.
- Good understanding of plant operations and functional processes.
- Ability to identify EHSS-related gaps and recurring patterns.
- Ability to assign preliminary risk levels.
- Ability to classify incident categories accurately.
