Job description
Overview
The Duty Engineer role involves installing, maintaining, and ensuring the proper functioning of various tools, appliances, and equipment. The engineer will conduct preventative maintenance, calibrate controls and gauges, and manage inventory for parts and supplies. They are responsible for operating power lifts, conducting safety tests like fire-pump and generator run tests, inspecting fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems, and supporting disaster response protocol development. Additionally, the role includes responding promptly to guest repair requests and assisting management with employee-related functions such as hiring, training, evaluation, and team motivation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of equipment and machinery.
- Operate shut-off valves and power lifts safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate logs for purchase orders and inventory of parts and supplies.
- Perform visual inspections of tools, equipment, or machines regularly.
- Complete safety-related checklists including fire-pump and generator tests to uphold safety standards.
- Assist in drafting and implementing protocols for disaster response.
- Address and resolve guest repair requests promptly and efficiently.
- Support management with recruitment, training, scheduling, performance reviews, counseling, discipline, and motivating personnel.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety, security, and operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and confidentiality standards at all times.
- Deliver excellent guest service by acknowledging guests, anticipating service needs, and aiding those with disabilities.
- Foster positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with team members to meet shared goals.
- Identify and propose improvements to increase efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness within operations.
- Effectively communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing for prolonged periods, and moving on stairs or ramps as required.
- Fulfill other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Technical, trade, or vocational school diploma is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is necessary.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- No specific licenses or certifications are mandatory.
