DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

The DevOps Engineer position at Global Wave Group, based in Albany, Auckland, focuses on designing, implementing, and sustaining cloud infrastructure and continuous integration/deployment pipelines. The role demands expertise in managing infrastructure and automation while maintaining a solid grasp of application development. Collaboration with backend (Java/Python) and frontend (React) teams is essential to guarantee smooth deployment and optimal application performance.

Primary Duties

• Architect, deploy, and oversee robust, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS ensuring high availability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Design and manage Kubernetes clusters, handle container images, and enhance container orchestration methods.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines employing tools like Jenkins, Tekton, ArgoCD, or GitHub Actions to automate building, testing, and deployment.
• Create and sustain Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform or Ansible for consistent and version-controlled environment setups.
• Provide development support and troubleshoot issues for Java, Python, and React JS DevOps applications.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions including Prometheus, Grafana, VM, and ELK Stack to maintain system health and swift incident resolution.
• Administer Linux and Windows servers, focusing on kernel tuning, network configuration, and performance optimization.

Required Experience and Skills

• Between 3 to 5 years of experience within DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Engineering roles.
• Advanced knowledge in AWS cloud services such as EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, CloudFront, S3, RDS, Lambda, WAF, SSM, VPC, and IAM.
• Robust experience with container technology Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes, including Helm and operators.
• Strong foundation in Linux and Windows system administration and network management.
• Competence in Python or Bash scripting with additional experience in Java considered advantageous.
• Proficiency using Git version control and various branching workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of thriving in Agile environments, alongside strong communication skills in written and spoken Chinese.

Desirable Expertise

• Hands-on experience or working knowledge of backend technologies including Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Flask).
• Understanding frontend development frameworks such as React architecture, TypeScript, CSS (tailwind), with familiarity in build tools like Vite and deployment strategies.
• Experience managing both SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and StarRocks.
• Awareness of DevSecOps practices comprising vulnerability scanning and adherence to security compliance.
