Job description
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Modeler to create and sustain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that enhance enterprise data platforms, analytical processes, and governance efforts. The ideal candidate will have robust expertise in data modeling and architecture, combined with practical experience using modern data platforms.
Required Qualifications
- 4 to 5 years of professional experience in data modeling and data architecture
- Deep understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling principles
- Proficiency in data warehouse design and dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas
- Strong skills in SQL and database design fundamentals
- Knowledge of normalization, denormalization, and best practices in data modeling
- Experience with data modeling tools like Erwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or similar software
- Hands-on expertise with at least one of these platforms: Informatica IDMC, Microsoft Fabric & Purview, or Databricks
- Familiarity with metadata management, data lineage, data cataloging, and data governance concepts
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving abilities, and experience managing stakeholders
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of Data Vault, Kimball, and Inmon methodologies
- Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, and enterprise data management initiatives
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python or PySpark
- Awareness of modern Lakehouse data architectures
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business needs
- Establish and uphold data standards, naming conventions, and modeling best practices
- Collaborate closely with business teams, data engineering, and architecture groups to gather and define data requirements
- Support organization-wide data governance, metadata management, and analytics projects
- Maintain comprehensive repositories of data models, metadata, and detailed documentation
- Conduct impact analysis and ensure data models are scalable and consistent across different platforms
