Supervisor - Stewards

Position Overview

The Supervisor of Stewards is responsible for directly overseeing and supporting the stewarding team to enhance cleaning efficiency and maintain operational standards in the food and beverage environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and assist stewards to improve the effectiveness of cleaning procedures.
• Monitor and ensure proper water temperature and chemical levels for cleaning, maintaining accurate documentation.
• Support banquet plate-ups and assist kitchen staff, including cooks, with various operational tasks.
• Manage the transport and stock levels for banquet and buffet services, returning cleaned items to designated storage.
• Operate and upkeep cleaning machines and tools such as dishwashers, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing areas, and trash compactors.
• Assist management with recruitment, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching of employees.
• Comply with all company safety and security protocols; report unsafe conditions, accidents, and complete safety trainings and certifications.
• Maintain professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary company information.
• Provide warm, standard-compliant guest greetings and proactively address their service needs.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and staff to facilitate positive working relationships and support team objectives.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and operational expectations.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, walking for prolonged periods, and maneuvering in various spaces including uneven or slippery surfaces.
• Undertake additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational requirement: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Work experience: At least two years in a related stewarding or cleaning role.
• Supervisory experience: Minimum one year managing or supervising staff.
• No specific licenses or certifications required.
