Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using native technologies.
- Interpret and implement feature requirements in Android apps, creating and updating detailed design documentation.
- Continuously explore and integrate new technologies to enhance development productivity and product quality.
- Collaborate with software testing teams to ensure robust and reliable app performance.
- Develop automated unit and integration tests to uphold code quality.
- Engage in design discussions, code reviews, and testing activities to support team deliverables.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance app sustainability and user experience.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in native Android development using Kotlin.
- Overall professional software development experience of at least 3 years.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, with expertise in Coroutines and asynchronous programming models.
- Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.
- Deep understanding of Android architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and MVP.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs using Retrofit.
- Proven ability to build and maintain large-scale, multi-module Android applications.
- Meticulous approach to documentation, testing, and writing reliable code with an emphasis on eliminating flaky tests.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks including Espresso and Mockito.
- Familiarity working in Agile environments using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Hands-on experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitHub Actions.
- Proficient with Git-based version control systems and branch management strategies like GitFlow.
- Additional advantage if experienced with Jetpack components, Compose for custom UI and performance tuning, Navigation, Java, dependency injection frameworks (Hilt, Dagger, Koin), and fundamentals of data encryption and security.
Education and Experience Summary
The position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and between 2 to 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates holding a Master’s degree with 0 to 2 years of equivalent experience are also eligible.
