Role Scope

As a Quantity Surveyor on the project, you will ensure that all job components are budgeted and agreed upon to secure favorable returns for Mercury. Maintaining thorough documentation and records is key to support payment submissions and claim processes effectively. You are tasked with setting targeted objectives for your project elements aligning with overall project goals and managing these proactively and systematically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Construction team with all quantity surveying activities.
  • Prepare initial cost estimates during early design phases.
  • Develop detailed cost plans alongside design progression.
  • Provide advice on cost impacts resulting from design modifications.
  • Benchmark costs utilizing historical project data.
  • Quantify materials and work from drawings accurately.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, rate schedules, and tender documentation.
  • Ensure measurement accuracy and consistency.
  • Handle contract variations efficiently.
  • Evaluate claims related to time, costs, and disruptions.
  • Draft interim payment certificates.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified academically or possess relevant industry experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a Quantity Surveyor role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of work contracts, especially those related to fire protection.
  • Familiarity with Civil engineering and architectural work packages.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and proficiency.
  • Effective negotiation skills with clients on a professional basis.
  • Proficient in Excel usage.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
