Role Overview

Due to expanding operations and an exciting project pipeline, we are seeking a Project Manager to join our Brisbane or Maroochydore office. This role entails complete ownership of certain projects and managing specific project functions within larger Program Management Offices on major contracts. Responsibilities include close collaboration with commercial and technical leaders and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners.

The position provides exposure to key sectors such as transportation, energy, defence, water, and built environment projects across Queensland and Australia, initially focusing on transportation, buildings, and defence. You will join a committed consulting team recognized for guiding clients and delivering vital projects with a proactive problem-solving and strategic mindset balancing technical and commercial demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to oversee project scope actively to prevent scope creep through close cooperation with technical teams.
• Identify and evaluate risks, constraints, and opportunities in complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Create clear, actionable project plans and schedules that effectively direct delivery and are actively utilized by team members.
• Monitor project progress, analyze performance, and implement adjustments to maintain alignment with goals.
• Collaborate with project advisors and technical specialists to ensure high-quality deliverables to clients.
• Prepare and present regular project reports, maintaining robust engagement with client stakeholders.
• Manage subcontractor contracts including scope setting, delivery monitoring, payments, insurance, reporting, and due diligence.
• Continuously enhance project management methodologies, tools, and templates to drive improvement.
• Work alongside commercial, legal, insurance, and technical parties to develop effective solutions that address project risks.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 years' project management experience gained in either client organizations or consultancy environments.
• Relevant tertiary education qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
• Strong advocate for best practices with the ability to make informed project decisions.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to define and implement project scope.
• Competent in managing projects through all phases from initiation to closure.
• Ability to understand and interpret contracts, with readiness to seek expert guidance as necessary.
• Excellent communication skills complemented by a cooperative approach to establish effective subcontractor partnerships delivering client value.
• Passion for consulting on projects in energy, transport, and social infrastructure sectors that have meaningful impact.
• Knowledge of Queensland’s project delivery frameworks and environment.
• Capable of influencing outcomes and leading teams with credibility and purposeful direction.
